Ruth Ellen Schmidt-Kletzing of Southampton, Pennsylvania died Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. She was 79 years old. Ruth was born August 26, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Elwood Kletzing and the late Ruth Ellen Kletzing (nee - Platts). She is the sister of V. Roberta Dunham, the late Katharine Oski, and the late John Dragon; aunt of Jeanne Marie Oski (Eileen Walls), Donna Marie DeSumma (Nick), Kathleen Hartman (Tony), Charles David Oski, John Stephen Dragon Jr., and Mark Dunham.
Ruth Ellen was a 1958 graduate of Upper Dublin High School. She went to work at Maplewood Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Tech and later as an Orthodist. She continued her career with Baederwood Pharmacy in both capacities. Ruth Ellen, along with her mother and sister Katharine, founded Willow Manor Players, a local community theater group. She enjoyed singing and loved her dogs Peanut and Cassie.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewings on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Her graveside service followed at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ruth Kletzing Memorial Scholarship Fund, Willow Manor Players, c/o 225 Hampshire Drive, Sellersville, PA 18960.
