Dorris Godfrey (nee Bagby) of Southampton, PA formerly of Philadelphia and Huntingdon Valley, PA and Hobart, IN, died peacefully on June 11, 2007. She was the wife of the late Charles Henry Godfrey and devoted mother of Suzanne (Godfrey) Stimpson and her husband Henry P. Stimpson, III of Wayland, MA, Phyllis (Godfrey) Nelson of Perkasie, PA and Andrea (Godfrey) Lacey and the late Thomas W. Lacey, of Attleboro, MA. She was also the devoted grandmother of Karisa Nelson and Rebecca Stimpson.

Born March 9, 1923 in Gary, Indiana and raised in Hobart, Indiana, she graduated from Hobart High School in 1940. She attended Western Kentucky State Teachers College (now Western Kentucky University) in Bowling Green, KY for three years.

She enlisted in the United States Navy as a WAVE on May 27, 1944. She served as a Nurse’s Assistant, Mate Third Class in San Diego, CA helping many Pacific War casualties. She was discharged on January 23, 1946. She was also a long time active member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, Independence Hall Chapter in Philadelphia.

She was a member of The Memorial Church of the Holy Nativity, in Rockledge, PA.. Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing, Friday, June 15, 2007 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. and her funeral service at 10:30 A.M. at Memorial Church Of The Holy Nativity, 205 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA. 19046. A cemetery service at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA. 19046 followed the funeral service. Religious services were conducted by The Very Rev. Carl E. Metzger from Memorial Church Of The Holy Nativity.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Memorial Church Of The Holy Nativity, 205 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA. 19046.
