Gretchen L. Eckert of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died suddenly on Sunday, March 2, 2008. She was 64 years old. Gretchen was born June 16, 1943, the daughter of the late Karl Taubenberger and the late Bertha Taubenberger (nee - Mayer).

She is the beloved wife of Robert C. Eckert; the mother of Robert C. Eckert, Jr. and the sister of Berta E. Moore.

Gretchen was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, graduating from Frankford High School in the city. She attended Penn State University, Ogontz for one year and was a graduate of the University’s Main Campus where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Gretchen was the first female supervisor for Bell of Pennsylvania and worked for seventeen years as the Director of Membership for Gloria Dei Church in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. She ended her working career as a vice president for North American Networks.

Gretchen has been a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown, Pa. for the past ten years, where she served on the Church Session. She was also a member of the Rotary Club of Horsham, where she served two terms as president.

Relatives and friends were invited to her funeral service, Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 444 Old York Road at Vista Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046, where friends were invited to call from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. An interment service followed at the Hillside Cemetery on Susquehanna Road in Roslyn, Pa. 19001. Religious services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Sanford Hull, the pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Grace Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 444 Old York Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046.
