Erwin Hoelzle of Doylestown, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at his residence. He was 78 years old. Erwin was born August 16, 1930, the son of the late Erwin Ludwig Hölzle and the late Maria Hölzle (nee - Bittermann).

He is the beloved husband for 57 years of Doris Hoelzle (nee - Matz). Father of Kenneth Hoelzle and his wife Karen, Karen Miller and her husband Ed, Diane Doerner and her husband John and Richard Hoelzle and his wife Janis. Brother of Herbert Hoelzle and his wife Annette. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Erwin was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, graduating from the old Northeast High School in the city. He also attended Ryder College in New Jersey. After graduation from high school he worked as a cable splicer for the Bell Telephone Company until he entered the United States Army in September of 1950. While in the service he was deployed in Germany for seven months as a radio operator at the Battalion Headquarters for the 28th Artillery Division and reached the rank of Corporal before his discharge from the Army in June of 1952. He returned to work as a plant engineer for Bell Telephone, where he was employed until his retirement in 1985.

Erwin was a retired minister at the New Apostolic Church, where he remained active until his passing. He was also a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewings, Friday, November 28, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 North Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA. 19090 and Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. at New Apostolic Church, West Ridge Pike and Limerick Center Road, Limerick, PA 19468. His funeral service was Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Cemetery services were private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the New Apostolic Church, Young at Heart Fund, c/o Jeff Miller, 412 Chariot Court, Chalfont, Pa. 18914.
