Victoria L. Basara of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park. She was 93 years old. Victoria was born September 1, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Frank A. Lis and the late Magdalena Lis (nee - Kaczmarczyk). She is the beloved wife of the late Chester J. Basara; mother of Christine Hyman and her husband Ralph and James Basara and his wife Adrienne; grandmother of Jeffrey Hyman, Jill Hyman and her husband Ryan Verhey, Matthew Basara, and Keith Basara.

Victoria was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She was a 1943 graduate of Simon Gratz High School. She met Chester Basara while attending a Memorial day picnic, the two were married in 1947. Victoria was a secretary at Honeywell during her working years. She was a former member of St. Ladislaus and Maternity B.V.M. Churches in Philadelphia. In her later years, Victoria was a beloved resident at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park, 8401 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Her graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
