John Michael "Mike" Brettle of Hatboro, Pennsylvania died suddenly on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 61 years old. Mike was born January 28, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Guy Irvin Brettle and the late Dorothy Brettle (nee - McLaughlin). He is the loving husband of Elizabeth “Betsy” Brettle (nee - Guise); devoted father of Jessica Jones and her husband Jayson, and Jonathan Brettle and his wife Iris; adored Pop-Pop of Chase and Cole Jones; Brother of Pete Brettle and his wife Barbara, Raymond Brettle and his wife Helen, Donald Brettle and his wife Kathryn, Linda Herzog and her late husband Raymond, and Susie Parker and her husband Wayne; Brother-in-law of Bruce Guise and his wife Carol, and Carl Guise and his wife Sandy. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Mike was born, raised, and educated in the Olney section of Philadelphia where he was a graduate of Olney High School. He worked for SEPTA as an instructor until his retirement in 2010, when he took a position as a bus driver for First Student Bus Charter Company. Mike had been a resident of Olney until moving to Hatboro in 1991. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 505 North York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040 www.stjohnshatboro.org. His private interment took place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, Pennsylvania.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Eric Reimer, senior pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
