Patrick C. Nelligan of Warminster, Pennsylvania and formerly of Newington Drive in Hatboro, Pennsylvania died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 77 years old. Pat was born June 9, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles Nelligan and the late Mary Nelligan (nee - Kelly). He is the beloved husband of the late Barbara Nelligan; father of Patrick Nelligan, Jr. and his wife Linda, John Nelligan and his wife Mary, Nancy Midwood and her husband Greg, Christopher Nelligan and his wife Michelle, the late Kathy Nelligan and the late Eileen Nelligan; grandfather of Patrick Nelligan and his wife Victoria, Ryan Nelligan, Jocelyn Nelligan, J. D. Nelligan, Jr., Katelynn Nelligan, Timothy Nelligan, Michael Midwood and Cole Midwood, and Christopher Nelligan, Jr. and Allison Nelligan; brother of Mary Vokes.

Pat was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He attended the Edwin M. Stanton school and graduated from Jules E. Mastbaum High School. Pat was 16 when he was introduced to Barbara McCrea on a blind date set up by Pat and Barbara’s friends. Although offered a scholarship to a major Philadelphia university, Pat chose the future love of his life, and the couple eloped to Maryland and were married in 1954. They lived in the Mayfair neighborhood of Philadelphia with Barbara’s mother for a couple of years. During this time, Pat was working at the Seeburg Juke Box Company. A work opportunity took Pat and Barb to Newburn, North Carolina where Pat took a job at Burroughs Corporation. After about a year they moved back to Philadelphia and into what became the longtime family home on Walker Street in Mayfair. Pat started a new position with the Sperry Corporation, a company he was proud to work in for 33 years. In 1971 Pat moved his family to Hatboro, Pennsylvania where he lived for over 40 years while his children grew up and built families of their own. Pat retired after 40 years of service in the computer industry. During his career he worked on and maintained many of the early mechanical computing devices in use in large industry at the time. He is remembered as a man who was very mechanically inclined and talented with his hands. In 2012 Pat moved to the Anne's Choice retirement community to live out his retirement years.

Pat enjoyed gardening and planting vegetables. Outside of his gardens he was interested in all things technical. Pat loved teaching his children about things he was familiar with, fixing and building things, building balsa wood airplanes to play with his children, working on cars, and following car racing including NASCAR and IndyCar. Pat was a simple person. He worked very hard to see that everyone in his family had everything they needed. He lived for his family.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 6:30 P.M. and memorial service at 7:30 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
