Kathleen “Kass” Thompson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at VNA Hospice. She was 93 years old. Kathleen was born March 27, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Patrick James Donaghy and the late Katherine Donaghy (nee - Halligan). She is the beloved wife of the late Edwin Thompson; mother of Edwin and his wife Margaret and Anthony and his wife Carla, and the late Patrick J. Thompson; grandmother of Moira Gallagher Potomis and her husband Cory and Michael Thompson; great grandmother of Avery Margaret and Connor Potomis.
Kathleen was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School. She married Edwin Thompson on Halloween, October 31, 1947. Kathleen worked for many years at Gimbel’s Department Store. She was an expert on Depression Era glassware. Kathleen had an encyclopedic knowledge of actors, movies, and entertainment that never ceased to amaze her family.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.
