Friedhelm W. "Fred" Irlich of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Friday, June 14, 2019 at Philadelphia Protestant Home. He was 90 years old. Fred was born May 29, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Josepf Irlich and the late Rosina Irlich (nee - Huber). He is the beloved husband of the late Dolores W. Irlich; father of Gregory Irlich and Kenneth Irlich and his wife Eileen; grandfather of Amie Mee and Justin, Matthew, Jason and Ryan Irlich; great grandfather of Lukas Irlich, Owen Irlich, Cora Irlich, Bastian Irlich, Liliana Mee, Anabella Mee, Jonah Irlich, and Vayda Irlich; brother of Carmen Kunyczka and Ellen Hennesy and her husband Des.

Fred was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He was a 1948 graduate of Olney High School. Fred enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and served in Germany during the peace keeping mission after WWII due to his German language skill. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Fred met Dolores at a dance held at the Somerton Springs Pool. He worked for forty years with Budd Company starting as a pattern maker and moving up to management. In his free time, Fred enjoyed woodworking and continued his skills while a resident at Gloria Dei helping fellow residents with repairs to their furniture, cabinets, etc... Fred was a member of Palestine-Roxborough F. and A. M. No. 135. Fred and Dolores loved their trips to the shore.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His graveside service, with military honors by the United States Army, followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths from Griffiths, Rev. Owen, 4150 Woodhaven Road, Philadelphia, PA 19149.
