Catherine S. Schmitt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Immaculate Mary Home. She was 92 years old. Catherine was born February 14, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Walter High and the late Sadie High (nee - Knipe). She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest G. Schmitt; mother of Ernie Schmitt and his wife Jean, Catherine M. Schmitt, Elaine Milberger and her husband Eugene “Butch,” Russell Schmitt and his wife Marcy, and Carl C. Schmitt; grandmother of Ben Mitchell, Amy Schmitt, Rebecca Schmitt, Niko Milberger, Jeffrey Schmitt, and Philip Schmitt; great-grandmother of Charlotte Mitchell, sister of Frances Mikota and Rebecca High, the late Elmira High, the late Blanche High, and the late Walter High. She is also survived by a loving extended family and friends.

Catherine was a loving wife, nurturing mother, and grandmother. Though she began her career as a bookkeeper, she found her true calling as a homemaker where there was always a hot meal on the table, children and then grandchildren to be raised, and things to do around the home. Family and friends will remember her as dedicated, gentle, and patient both at home and in her everyday interactions with the people around her.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at the Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
