Claire R. DiCriscio of Hollywood, Pennsylvania died suddenly Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. She was 79 years old. Claire was born March 8, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Grant Hettenbach and the late Margaret Hettenbach (nee - Esbenson). She is the beloved wife of the late John Anthony DiCriscio; mother of Brad DiCriscio and his wife Laura, Brian DiCriscio and his wife Maureen and Desiree Mecca and her husband Sean; grandmother of Thomas DiCriscio, Megan DiCriscio, Daniel DiCriscio, Colton DiCriscio, Christina DiCriscio, Brianna DiCriscio, Melissa Mecca, Melanie Mecca, and Natalia DiCriscio; sister of Margaret Gibbons and her husband Joseph and Donald Hettenbach and his wife Faith.
Claire was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia where she attended and graduated from St. John the Baptist Church school in the Manayunk section of the city. She continued her education at Philadelphia Community College and completed an Associates Degree. After school Claire worked at several banks including Germantown Savings Bank (GSB) and Philadelphia Savings Fund Society (PSFS). She met John DiCriscio while working at the bank. Claire also worked as a secretary for several churches and as a cashier for Woolworths in Huntingdon Valley. For the last 24 years of her career she was an administrative assistant for Manor College in Jenkintown.
Claire and John were married and raised their three children. They settled in the Hollywood neighborhood of Abington Township in the Philadelphia suburbs. Claire supported her children as a leader and helper for their Campfire Girls and Scout troops. Later, she loved helping out and baby sitting her grandchildren. Claire was always giving and helping out others including bringing food and supplies to the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great at their Motherhouse at Manor College.
In her free time, Claire enjoyed watching NASCAR races on television, taking photos, eating at Longhorn Steakhouse, and going up to the Neshaminy Mall to watch movies with family and friends. Claire loved spoiling her grandchildren at all of the holidays.
Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 12:00 P.M. and memorial service at 2:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Fr. Skip Miller.
