Robert C. Williams of Glenside, Pennsylvania died Friday, October 6, 2017 at his home. He was 74 years old. Robert was born May 6, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late James H. Williams and the late Bessie L. Williams (nee - Fleeson). He is the beloved husband of Beth Williams for 54 years; father of Susan Carroll and her husband Chris, Bob Williams and his wife Donna, and Cheryl DiBello and her husband Angelo; grandfather of Maggie and Amy Carroll, Lauren Matthews and her husband Evan, Alyssa Williams, and Katie, Nick, and Michael DiBello; brother of Pat Ragghanti and her husband Bob, Bea Blackburn and her late husband Bill, Doris Schnaufer and her husband Bob, and the late James H. Williams, Jr. and his wife Jean. Bob is also survived by his Cockapoo Corky.

Bob was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia where he attended Dobson Elementary School and Frankford High School. In February of 1961 Bob joined the United States Army. He served for 3 years and was honorably discharged in February 1964 at a rank of SP5 (T) E5. Part of Bob’s time in the Army was spend at Fort Benning in Georgia. While there he met Bethy Brooks at Chad’s Twisting Lounge where they danced and won a twisting contest.

Bob and Beth were married on August 3, 1963 at the Kelly Hill Chapel at Fort Benning. After Bob’s discharge from the Army the couple moved to Barton Street in the Tacony neighborhood of Philadelphia. In 1965 they moved to the suburbs and spent a couple of years in Willow Grove. In 1968 the moved to Roslyn and stayed there until 1972 when they moved to their longtime home on Roslyn Avenue in Glenside. In 1971 Bob and Beth joined Willow Grove Baptist Church where they have been members ever since. Bob was active in his church where he was a Vacation Bible School Leader, sang in the choir, and was constantly helping out with repairs. Bob put his skills as a union carpenter to great use when the church sanctuary needed to be redone. He was a member of Carpenters Union local 164.

Bob loved to dance with his wife. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, softball, basketball, and Pinochle. Bob’s favorite pastime, after his retirement in the late 1990s, was supporting his grandchildren in their sports, music, and all other activities they participated in. He was their biggest fan.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 1:00 P.M. and Memorial Service at 2:00 P.M. at Willow Grove Baptist Church, 1872 Kimball Avenue, Willow Grove, PA 19090.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Tony Tilford, pastor of Willow Grove Baptist Church.
