Dr. Gerald J. Wasserman of Warrington, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Jefferson Health Hospice at Warminster. He was 72 years old. Gerald was born March 27, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late David Wasserman and the late Rose Wasserman (nee - Pepperman). He is the loved husband of Michelle Wasserman (nee - Beyda); father of Adam Wasserman and his wife Kate and Tara Blum and her husband Andrew; grandfather of Jack and Sage Wasserman and Mia and Noah Blum; brother of Renèe Goldsman and her husband “Big Jerry” and Judy Rubin and her husband Mark; he is also survived by a loving extended family, many friends, and his Morkie, Sophie.

Jerry was raised in the Oxford Circle neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. He graduated from Northeast High School, attained his Master’s Degree + 60 credits from Temple University, and his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine.

On June 20, 1971 Jerry married Michelle Beyda in Chicago where their family would be settled for more than 30 years. During this time in his medical practice, Jerry became recognized as a pioneer, specialist, and authority in laser surgery. Then in the early 2000s, the family returned to Philadelphia and Jerry resumed teaching Biology and Driver’s Education at the Benjamin Franklin High School.

Throughout his life, Jerry was known for the love of his family, food, and Philadelphia Eagles. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Reformed Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027. His graveside service followed at Shalom Memorial Park, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.

Religious services were conducted by Rabbi Stacey Rigler from Reformed Congregation Keneseth Israel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the organization known as Donor’s Choose, to support educational projects in the Philadelphia Community that Jerry called home.

The family will be sitting Shiva at the home of Andrew and Tara Blum, 1721 Reading Road, Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania 19006. The family will be receiving guests Friday afternoon, Saturday evening, Sunday evening, and Monday evening.
