Derwent C. "Derry" Hoshauer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Sunday, November 10, 2019 at VITAS - Nazareth Hospital. He was 95 years old. Derry was born October 11, 1924 in Shillington, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edgar Hoshauer and the late Elda Hoshauer (nee - Coldren). Beloved husband of the late Ruth A. Hoshauer (nee- Eising). He is the beloved brother of Glenn E. Hoshauer and his wife Lillian, the late Dolores Bongart and her husband the late Frank, and the late Romaine Jones and her husband the late Elmer. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Derry was raised in Philadelphia and attended the Pennsylvania School of the Deaf. He went to work for Boeing as an assembly line worker. In his free time Derry enjoyed bowling and being active with the Silent Athletic Club.
Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mayfair, 3101 Tyson Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19149.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Beth Lockard from Christ the King Deaf Church, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA 19382.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Deaf Community Action Network, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA 19382.
