Joan Marie Schneider of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She was 59 years old. Joan was born December 3, 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William R. Schneider and the late Marie T. Schneider (nee - Detterer). She is the beloved sister of Richard A. Schneider and Anne J. Cuccinello and her husband Jim; aunt of Chrissy Eisenfelder and her husband Pat; great aunt of Patrick, Sarah, Nathan, Hannah, Abby, and Gabriel Eisenfelder. She will also be greatly missed by her beloved friend Ken Lindley.
Joan was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia, PA. She was a 1976 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School. Joan worked as an insurance agent at the Spencer Insurance Agency in Jenkintown, PA. She was a professed member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. In her free time Joan enjoyed roller coasters with her sister and collecting post cards.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Church, 8320 Brookside Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027. Her graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Edward A. Windhaus from St. James Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Scholarship Fund at Saint James Regional Catholic School, 500 Tome Street, Ridley Park, PA 19078.
