Patricia A. Rooney, also known as Sr. Kevin Marie, O.S.F. of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania died Monday, September 10, 2018 at her home. She was 85 years old. Pat was born November 8, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Charles Rooney and the late Marion Rooney (nee - Hubbs). She is the beloved partner of 34 years of Janet McClain; sister of the late Reid, Bill, and Al Rooney; she is also survived by a very loving extended family.

Pat was born and raised in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia. She graduated from St. Joachim Parish School and later from Little Flower High School, Class of 1950, and immediately entered the convent taking the name Sister Kevin Marie of the Order of St. Francis of Assisi. Sr. Kevin Marie spent many years as a nun in service to the Church and the public. Her stations and responsibilities varied widely: from elementary school teaching positions in Lancaster and Egg Harbor, to assisting in an orphanage in New Bedford. She went to school for radiology and opened the school for radiology at St. Joseph Hospital in Lancaster. Patricia later helped to establish the renowned Assisi House for retired sisters, and was key in the founding of the Out Patient Department of St. Mary’s Hospital.

Pat decided to reenter the laity after more than 37 years, but stayed within the medical field continuing to teach and work as a Lithotripsy technologist for the next 20 years until her retirement.

In her free time, Pat was a dedicated and devoted mother to her animals, an avid skier, and made personalized rosaries for friends and family for special occasions.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
