Elvira M. Saltiel of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Manor Care Huntingdon Valley. She was 89 years old. Elvira was born August 18, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Raphael DiCerbo. She is the beloved wife of the late Richard Alfred Saltiel and mother of Susan Ann Frances “Salty” Saltiel.
Elvira was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She grew up in the neighborhood adjacent to the Philadelphia Zoo and was a graduate of Simon Gratz High School in the city. She also attended the Rittenhouse Square Art School for over two years and was nationally known for her art work. During her working career, Elvira was a bookkeeper and worked primarily for Girard Bank and John Wanamaker Department Store. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Historic Arch Street Meeting House at 4th and Arch Streets in Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
