Celestina Larew of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her home. She was 90 years old. Celestina was born January 20, 1928 in Pregara, Yugoslavia, daughter of the late Matteo Stepancich and the late Angela Stepancich (nee - Giacaz). She is the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Larew; mother of Anna Smith and her husband Tom, Robert Larew and his wife Lisa, John Larew and his wife Wendy, Gina Bigelow and her husband Jeff; grandmother of Tom Smith Jr and his wife Lori, Alicia Wilson and her husband Dave, Scott Smith and his wife Kamarin, Robert Larew and his wife Emily, Adam Larew and his wife Christa, Tyler Larew, Casey and her husband Jim Geary, and Savannah and Isabella Bigelow; great grandmother of 23; great great grandmother of three. She is also survived by a loving extended family.

Celestina was born, raised, and educated in Yugoslavia. She relocated to the port city of Trieste, in northeast Italy to escape communist rule when she was a teenager. It is here that she met a US Army G.I. named Robert Larew. The two fell in love and were married, 10 years later, in Willow Grove, PA on September 22, 1962. Celestina loved music, she enjoyed singing, especially opera, and dancing. She was a devoted follower of Christ and an active member of St. David Parish for 60 years. Celestina was giving of her time for charitable works including visitation at nursing homes and hospitals. True to her Italian nature, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and feeding her family and friends. She will be missed for her independent spirit. Although small in stature she was very feisty.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. and a time of sharing from 10:00 to 10:30 AM at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Her Funeral Mass began at 11:00 A.M. at St. David Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Her graveside service followed at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. Richard P. Connors from St. David Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
