Jean Caroline Macht, 88, died peacefully October 24, 2018. She was born in Boston, MA to Jeanette and Rev. Harry B. Hill on Palm Sunday April 13, 1930. She was raised in Newton, Winthrop and Malden, MA where her father was the Methodist minister in each town. She attended Stoneleigh Burnham, a private high school in Greenfield, MA, attended Duke University for two years and later completed her BA from Beaver College (Arcadia University), and MA from Temple University. She was one of the founding faculty members of the Psychology Department at Montgomery County Community College (MCCC), in Blue Bell, PA and ultimately became Dean of Social Sciences. Over her 30 year career, she established and administered one of the first Human Services Departments in the United States going on to become the President of the National Organization of Human Service Educators. She served on the Board for the Council for Standards of Human Services Education becoming Vice President, Treasurer then President and chaired many accreditation teams. Jean was dedicated to helping the underserved and individuals with mental health needs. After her retirement from MCCC, she worked for 15 years as a designer and draftsperson at Paul Macht Architects. She was a talented decorator, gardener, seamstress, and writer. She was dedicated to her family and loved her pets.

Jean was pre-deceased by her husband, Stephen Fineman. She is survived by her former husband, Paul E. Macht, Sr. and their three children Paul E. Macht Jr. and wife, Linda, Rebecca J. Gorman and husband, Marshall, and Martha Sliwinski and husband, Jack Greagori. She was blessed with seven grandchildren Kyle and Alex Macht, Jessica McKenzie and Colin Gorman, Brian, Mark and Lauren Sliwinski and two great granddaughters Evalyn and Adelaide Macht whom she loved dearly.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. and memorial service at 12:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jean Macht Scholarship at Montgomery County Community College Foundation, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Checks can be made out to MCCC Foundation.
