Doreen Mae Watkis of Glenside, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Temple University Hospital. She was 64 years old. Doreen was born May 16, 1954 in Steer Town, Jamaica, daughter of the late Midora (nee - Thomas). She is the beloved wife of Desroy Watkis; mother of Desroy K. and Shane C. Watkis and his wife Becky; grandmother of Jalen, Alyssa, Mya, and Ava Watkis; sister of Delroy Tracey and the late Herman McBean and his wife Vera.

Doreen was born, raised, and educated in Steer Town, St. Ann Parish, Jamaica. She emigrated to the United States in 1974 and continued her education at Penn State Abington. Doreen and Desroy met while attending primary school. They married in 1975 in Steer Town. Doreen and Desroy raised their boys in Jenkintown, PA where Doreen joined Salem Baptist Church. Her love of the Lord, and that of singing, came together as she sang in the church choir for over 20 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Relatives and friends were also invited to her viewing on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 712 Penllyn Pike, (entrance is on Dager Road) Spring House, PA 19477.

Religious services were conducted by Marshall Paul Hughes Mitchell, Pastor from Salem Baptist Church of Roslyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Scleroderma Foundation Of Delaware Valley, 385 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
