Constance M. Hay of Hatboro, Pennsylvania died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. She was 77 years old. Constance was born June 14, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John Horkans and the late Mary Horkans Gormley (nee - Garbach). She is the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Hay; mother of Robert T., Patricia-Ann, and David J. and his wife Christina Hay; grandmother of DJ, Andrew, and Amanda Hay; sister of Patricia Baron, Loretta Torrens and her husband James, James Gormley and his wife Diane, and the late Agnes (June) Hood.
Constance was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia where she attended Little Flower High School. She met Robert Hay at a dance held at the Rockledge Firehouse. The two fell in love and were married August 4, 1961 in Philadelphia. Constance was a hard and tireless worker. She started her working career as a switchboard operator for a large business in Philadelphia. During the time she was raising her three children, she assisted wherever she could as a library assistant, room mother, den leader, and in other capacities at the kids school and groups. She went back to work as a receptionist at Drexelbrook and later as an accounts payable clerk for Imaging Sciences International (later Danaher). In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling. Constance was active in her churches as well serving as a treasurer at Suburban Grace and enjoying fellowship at Independent Bible Church of Willow Grove and BuxMont Baptist Church.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Relatives and friends were also invited to her viewing on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Buxmont Baptist Church, 309 West County Line Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. Her graveside service followed at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.
Religious services were conducted by Pastor Jake Presley from Buxmont Baptist Church.
