Marie M. Cairone of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health in Abington, PA. She was 90 years old. Marie was born July 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Albert J. Thomas and the late Anna Thomas (nee - Sink). She is the beloved wife of the late Joseph Cairone; mother of Joseph Cairone, Jr. and his wife Frances, Jeffrey Cairone and his wife Janice, John Cairone and his wife Elizabeth, and Joyce Charles and her husband Michael; sister of Judy Delaney, Debbie Maldonado, and the late Sandra Levy. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Marie was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. Her family lived in the Feltonville, Olney, and Lawncrest neighborhoods of the city as she grew up and she attended Olney High School. Marie married Joseph Cairone when he returned from the service after World War II and together they established Joseph A. Cairone, a sole proprietorship. Then they incorporated in 1969 as Joseph A. Cairone, Inc. The company prospered as builders and developers and she remained as president of the company until her death. Marie and Joe lived for many years on Hellerman Street in Lawndale where they raised their family. Joe passed away in 1996 and ten years later Marie moved to Elkins Park in Montgomery County, PA. They were longtime members of the Bethany United Church of Christ in Philadelphia.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. and to her funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Bethany United Church of Christ, 6545 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Relatives and friends are also invited to her graveside service a week later at 10 A.M. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Jack Fletcher Price, pastor of Bethany United Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Bethany United Church of Christ, 6545 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
