Joan D. Sylvester of Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at
Holy Redeemer Hospital. She was 86 years old. Joan was born December 2, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Theodore Cocco and the late Mary Edna Cocco. She is the beloved wife of the late Raymond Sylvester; mother of Deborah Sylvester and her husband Jack Capek, Barry Sylvester and his wife Beth, Kim Carlone, Karen McNamara and her husband Kevin, and Gary Sylvester and his wife Kitty; grandmother of Nicholas, Anthony, Maria, Benjamin and Brianna Sylvester, Chris, Natalie, Andrew and Gianna Carlone, Pauline, Carly and Daniel McNamara, Joseph and Stephen Sylvester.

Joan was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She wed Raymond Sylvester in 1952 and they raised their family in Dresher, PA. Joan supported her husband at his restaurants Little Dog House in the Germantown section of Philadelphia and Skippers in Montgomeryville, PA. She enjoyed shopping, and being “dressed to the nines”. Joan enjoyed visiting with friends at the Ambler Senior Center (SAAC). Her favorite times were spent with family especially with her beloved grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Her graveside service followed at St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, PA 18914.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Senior Adult Activities Center of Montgomery County, 45 Forest Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002.
