Bruce R. Hofmann of Jamison, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Christ’s Home. He was 88 years old. Bruce was born July 29, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles Hofmann and the late Helen E. Hofmann (nee - Siegel). He is the beloved husband of the late Loretta Miriam Hofmann; father of Bruce Jr. and his wife Cathryn, Bill and his wife Denise, and Bob and his wife Donna; loving grandfather of 8, and great grandfather of 5.

Bruce was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia where he graduated from Olney High School and Temple University. He worked as a chemist for many years with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Bruce met Loretta while on church trip to Washington DC. The two fell in love and married in a double ceremony with Loretta’s twin sister Marian and her beloved Charles. Bruce and Loretta raised their boys on the 600 block of Tyson Avenue in Philadelphia. He had a lifelong love of music which was shared with his beloved Loretta. He picked up the bugle at age 5, started trumpet lessons at eight. Bruce held the position of President for over 40 years and Principal Trumpet for the Olney Symphony Orchestra. He joined the orchestra during it’s inception in the 1940’s. He also sang in the Zion Lutheran Church Choir and the Manor Singers under the direction of Helen Kemp. Bruce was also an amateur magician. Bruce’s greatest joy was spending time with his grand and great grandkids.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. and funeral service at 10:30 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service followed at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.
