Edith A. Kiger of Southampton, Pennsylvania died Friday, April 12, 2019 at Southampton Estates. She was 96 years old. Edith was born November 9, 1922, the daughter of the late Frederick B. Eidson and the late Zenia Unity Eidson (nee - Black). She is the beloved wife of the late Francis J. Kiger; mother of Francis J. Kiger, Jr. and his wife Norma; grandmother of Francis J. Kiger, III and his wife Dawn, and Gretchen Cory and her husband John; great grandmother of Kathleen Campbell and her husband Zachary, and Mackenzie, Miranda, and Magdalena Cory; great great grandmother of Benjamin Cory.

Edith was born in Detroit, Michigan and was raised in Pine Lake, the smallest city in DeKalb County, Georgia. She met her future husband, Francis Kiger, when he was stationed in Georgia while training in the United States Army Air Corp during World War Two. After their marriage they moved to Philadelphia, the Kiger family hometown. They lived for many years on the 6100 block of Algard Street in the Wissinoming section of the city where she was a member of the Wissinoming Baptist Church. During her working career Edith was employed as a bookkeeper for the Reinard Insurance Agency in Feasterville, PA until her retirement in 1995. She was also active in the Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission, helping the hungry and homeless in Philadelphia. After her husband’s death she became a resident of the Southampton Estates Retirement Community, where she lived for over twenty years.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 after 10:00 A.M. and to her Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. in the auditorium at Southampton Estates, 238 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966. Interment will be private. Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Russell J. Van Antwerpen, chaplain of Southampton Estates.
