John Edward McCloskey Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Jeanes Hospital. He was 63 years old. John was born February 22, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late John E. McCloskey and the late Joan McCloskey (nee - Weigand). He is the husband of Patti McCloskey; father of John McCloskey and Kelly McCloskey; brother of Michael McCloskey (Sheila), Patricia Manning (William), and Suzanne McElhatton (Michael); uncle of William and Alexandra Manning; Kate, Michael and Matthew McElhatton. Also survived by his longtime companion Tracey Bryant and her children William Bryant (Natasha), Katrina and Corey Humes.
John was born, raised, and educated in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia. He attended St. Cecilia School and Cardinal Dougherty High School. After high school, John attended the police academy and graduated in 1978. John was a Captain in the Philadelphia Police which was his lifetime career for 41 years. John lived in the Lawncrest and Somerton sections of his beloved city.
Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 8:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Maternity B. V. M. Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19115. His graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.
