Irma Amelia Koehler of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Normandy Farm Estates. She was 102 years old. Irma was born March 26, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John Distler and the late Amelia Distler (nee - Jung). She is the beloved wife of the late William; mother of Allan Koehler and the late Janice Richardson; grandmother of Mark Richardson and his wife Deena, Heidi Papachristos and her husband Demetrios and Scott Koehler and his wife Stefanie; great grandmother to Heather Richardson, Garrett Richardson, Alexandra Papachristos, Jessica and Jeremy Koehler; great great grandmother of Elizabeth, Kaylee, and Trevor; sister of the late Edward and the late Paul Distler.

Irma was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She worked in retail during her early years and through the Second World War. Once her children came along, Irma became a homemaker honing her crafting skills. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, crochet, and cross stitch. She made many of her own clothes and was known for her baking, especially her cookies. Irma was very active up to a week before her passing and loved to spend time with her growing family.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:30 A.M. at Crescentville Baptist Church, 521 East Godfrey Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19120-2123. Her graveside service followed at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Charles Dear from Crescentville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Crescentville Baptist Church, 521 East Godfrey Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19120-2123.
