Valerie McCarthy of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at her home. She was 62 years old. Valerie was born November 28, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Steven Nyzio and the late Ann Nyzio (nee - Macanga). She is the beloved mother of Matthew McCarthy and his wife Kimberly and Michelle Smith and her husband Harry; grandmother of Grace and Michael McCarthy; sister of Paul Nyzio and his wife Dawn, Teresa Fenton and her husband the late John, John Nyzio and his wife Olga, and Mary Ellen Stedeford and her husband Robert. She is also survived by her soul mate Drew Schussler.
Valerie was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia from her early years in West Oak Lane to the Northeast. She attended Cardinal Dougherty High School. Valerie raised her children in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia. She loved to play Bingo. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Forest Hills Cemetery, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to American Heart Association Memorial Fulfillment Center, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
