Janis Faith Carter of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Abington-Lansdale Hospital Jefferson Health. She was 71 years old. Janis was born July 10, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late James Carter and the late Olga Naomi Carter (nee - Billger). She is the sister of James Carter and his wife Gloria.
Janis was raised in the Fox Chase Manor section of Abington Township. She was a proud graduate of Abington High School in 1966. Janis worked for many years as a credit specialist for large companies including International Paper. She selflessly left the business world to take care of her aging mother for eight years. After her mother’s passing, she went back to work, for the last 12 years, as a clerk at Abington Pulmonary. Janis loved her dog Sugar, collected pewter and cut glass, and had a deep honor for what came before her.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Rosedale Memorial Park, 3850 Richlieu Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
