The following obituary was composed by Catherine’s family:

Catherine Bristow of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Monday, October 7, 2019 at Temple University Hospital. She was 59 years old. Catherine was born December 13, 1959 in Rochester, New York, daughter of Marlene Williams (nee - Gluck). She is the beloved mother of Michael Bristow; sister of John Williams and his wife Jan Kotuby.

Catherine graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She later received a Master of Arts in English Composition from Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey.

Catherine worked as an educator and writer throughout her career focusing on Adult students but also tutoring some children. Catherine’s latest position was with the Philadelphia Housing Authority where she performed a variety of educational functions. Catherine had previously taught at a number of other organizations always specializing in literacy, supervising others and work with computer labs, GED prep, etc. Catherine had a publication history that included skills workbooks, articles and a book about Autism.

She will be missed by many friends and relatives including her cousin Linda McGuigan / Miller and her husband Ken Miller who was close to her in age, her cousin Annette Rowe, and her Aunt Dolores McGuigan.

A celebration of Catherine’s life will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2019 with a visitation and buffet lunch from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. and sharing of music and memories beginning at 12:30 P.M. in the church hall of The Church of the Advent, 12 Byberry Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. The entrance to the hall is located on Rorer Avenue across from the Hatboro Federal Savings Bank parking lot. Street parking is available on Byberry Road, York Road, and Rorer Avenue in addition to the parking lot across the street near the Rorer Street entrance.
