Steven T. Horner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Friday, November 1, 2019 at York Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 81 years old. Steven was born May 10, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Frederick Horner Sr. and the late Daisy Horner (nee - Smallwood). He is the beloved husband of more than 45 years to the late Mary A. Horner; father of Pamela and Karen Horner, Phyllis Brown, and the late Christine Horner; grandfather of Allison Horner, Jasmin, Damon, and Xavier Cornish, and Christina and Christopher Brown; great grandfather of Alaijah Dowell and Iyanna Ferris; brother of Carol Jones  Evelyn Holmes, the late Frederick Horner, Jr, the late Raymond Horner, and the late Michael Horner; he is also survived by a loving extended family including his brother-in-law Ernest Mayo and sister-in-law Orene Wesley.

Steven was born, raised, and educated in the Philadelphia School System, a graduate of South Philadelphia High School. For more than 20 years he served the city of Philadelphia as a Firefighter in various firehouses until his retirement. In his later years, when he wasn’t enjoying some down time on the couch with his cat, Princess, or his dog, Cash, he was an avid firearms collector and enjoyed attending the various shows and conventions on the local circuits as both attendee and sometimes vendor. Ever the outdoorsman, Steven enjoyed not only hunting and fishing with his grandson Damon and late daughter Chris, but relished the roadtrips to get to his destination. During his time on the road, he was constantly on the lookout for new roadmaps to add to his collection.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Interment private.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.

Donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA.
