Marion "Maryanne" Schmidt Rockett of Big Pine Key, Florida passed peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Little Flower Manor after a five year battle with breast cancer. She was 74 years old. Maryanne was born June 12, 1945 in Abington, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Otto A. Schmidt and the late Meta Schmidt (nee - Buhner).  She was the beloved mother of George Rockett III and Sky Rockett; Mom-Mom to Storm, Steel, Sky Jr., and Titan Rockett. Maryanne is survived by her brother Otto Schmidt, her sister Anita Wolf, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her identical twin sister Rose D. Schmidt and her husband George Rockett Jr.

Maryanne was raised and educated in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia where she graduated from Frankford High School. Not long after graduation she married George Rocket Jr. In 1969, Maryanne and George left Philadelphia for Big Pine Key, Florida.  There they built a successful well known dive shop, Underseas, Inc. which flourished for almost fifty years. She returned to Philadelphia in October 2014.

Maryanne loved the ocean and diving. Her Catholic faith was unwavering and she was devoted to her family, especially her grandsons. She was extremely brave, strong, and caring and always lived life to the fullest. Maryanne made a lasting impact on everyone she met and constantly smiled in the face of adversity. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.  

The family is especially grateful to the physicians, nurses and staff who cared for Maryanne at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Little Flower Manor.  

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her Funeral Mass began at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111.  Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
