Leonard J. Fernandez a resident of the Pine Run Community in Doylestown, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 91 years old. Leonard was born August 23, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Satero Fernandez and the late Anna Fernandez (nee - Feeney). He is the beloved husband of the late Rita Margaret (nee Reilly) Fernandez for over 51 years; devoted father of JoAnn M. Magnatta and her husband George and John “Jack” C. Fernandez and his wife Alice Green; loving grandfather of Michael Elizabeth Magnatta; brother of the late Edward Fernandez and his wife the late Dorothy, the late Rose Krier and her husband the late Walter, the late Catherine Swigart and her husband William, the late Dolores Roque and her husband the late Richard, the late Mary Ann Lambert and her husband Arthur, and Raymond Fernandez and his wife the late Elaine; caring brother-in-law of Joseph Reilly and his wife Kass, the late Mary Ann Seefeldt and her husband the late Jack, the late Charles Reilly and his wife Kathleen, Genevieve McCloskey and her husband Jack, the late John Reilly and his wife Bernice, and Helen Greavy and her husband the late Paul. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Leonard was raised, and educated in Willow Grove, PA. He was a 1946 graduate of North Catholic High School. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduation and served honorably during World War II at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. He was discharged with the rank of Private First Class on January 5, 1948. Leonard continued his education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from La Salle College (now La Salle University). He served over fifty years as National Sales Representative/V.P. for Asplundh, Pitman Manufacturing, and Reading Body Company. Leonard enjoyed reading and was a lifelong learner. He also enjoyed working in his garden and holiday decorating.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 9:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA 19454. His graveside service with military honors rendered by the United States Army followed at St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, PA 18914.

Religious services were conducted by Father Patrick Muka from Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church.
