Joseph A. Vassallo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Thursday, February 20, 2020. He was 83 years old. Joseph was born December 29, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Anthony Vassallo and the late Margaret Vassallo (nee - Brooks). He is the beloved husband of the late Anna “Fay” Vassallo (nee - Brubaker); father of Kathy Vassallo Meese and her husband Jim and the late Joe Vassallo and his wife Diane; grandfather of Amanda, Tyler, Nikki, Matt, Tricia, Joey, and Christopher; brother of the late Dottie Westgard, the late Margie Brown, and the late Jenny Perez. He is also survived by a loving extended family.

Joseph was born, raised and educated in Philadelphia. He was a career firefighter, serving Philadelphia for more than 25 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Relatives and friends were also invited to his viewing Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. William Church, 6200 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Military honors rendered by the United States Army and his graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.
