The following obituary was composed by Don’s family:

Donald Carl O’Bott of Chalfont, Pennsylvania died suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday March 31st, 2020. He was 79 years old. Donald was born June 18th, 1940 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in Westmoreland County and was raised by Albert ("Ab") Frishkorn and his mother Margaret (Gillespie) Frishkorn in Zelienople, Pennsylvania. He is the beloved husband of Carolyn (Warner); the father of Steven and his wife Phyllis (Cocci), of Debra and her husband Michael (Jimick) and the grandfather of Jacob, Joy, Grace, Jewel, Jesse, and Josiah O'Bott and of Andrew Jimick.

Don was raised on a farm in Zelienople, Pennsylvania and graduated from Evans City High School in 1958. He then entered into the Navy to serve his country until 1963. After his military service, he relocated to the Philadelphia area working as a truck mechanic at A&P. In November of 1968, Don started working for Arbor Material Handling company in Willow Grove as a forklift service technician. He worked here for many years and then continued working there part time as a parts driver in his semi-retirement until the time of his death. In 1970 he moved to Chalfont and has been living there ever since.

Don met Carolyn Warner in January of 1965 and they were engaged in June of 1965 and married on October 23rd, 1965. They were happily married for 54 years.

Don enjoyed camping and took his family camping in most of the continental states in America, seeing quite a number of the US national parks and many of the Pennsylvania state parks as well. As empty-nesters, Don and Carolyn continued RV camping and enjoyed seeing most of America together.

Don together with Carolyn served at his church as an usher, greeter, and finance tracker. Don also served in the community as the treasurer in several different clubs.

Square dancing was a passion of Don's. He and Carolyn have been active members of many square dancing clubs in the local area. They have both served in various leadership roles in the Buckaroos club. Together they attended state, regional, and national square dancing conventions for the past 30 years. Don learned how to be a square dance caller and did so at the clubs, conventions, and in many local area places such as church groups, community groups, and senior living facilities.

We ask no bereavement visits to protect everyone. Current virus-related state health conditions require that only private services are to be held.

Relatives and friends were invited to his memorial service on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Doylestown, 311 West State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
