William J. Barry of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania died Monday, September 15, 2025 at his home. He was 88 years old. William was born August 21, 1937 at Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Son of the late Albert Barry and the late Margaret Barry (nee - McQuillan). He is the beloved husband of the late Elsie Barry; father of Barbara DeValerio, Cindi “Cinder” Barry, and David Barry.
Brother of Betty Thompson (the late Robert F.), and her son Brian and his wife Rebecca (and their late Son/Daughter in Law, Robert W. and Denise); Brother-in-law of Joy Haas (Richard) and Frank Crumley and his wife Darlene; Grandfather of Ray Finch (Melanie) great grandPop of four. He is also survived by his many nieces, and nephews; and his beloved Foreman Sergio.

In his younger years, Bill was a hard worker; working many side Jobs, along with owning his own cleaning company. He also worked for Mushroom Transportation and James D. Morrissey for many years. He worked on many of the roads in Philadelphia and Cheltenham. Bill was owner and operator of William J. Barry Landscaping. His son David, had taken over the business since 2016, when the company name changed to William Barry Landscaping. LLC.  This is the 78th year of the company. To the very end, he was a proud CDL holder and Commercial Pesticide Applicator.

In his early years, Bill enjoyed Bowling with a local Bowling League & even scored a perfect 300 game. Bill was someone who was extremely Proud of his Irish/Scottish heritage; He loved a good cup of Tea with lots of sugar, and you on most days, could find him wearing his Irish Cap atop his head. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies sports teams.

He also really enjoyed woodworking,, working on his yard, and showing his 1979 Ford F350 Lariat in local car shows. In 2025, He was Grand Marshall of the Cheltenham July 4th Parade, which was the highlight of his last several months.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewings on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Berachah Church, 400 Ashbourne Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012.

Services were conducted by Rev. Wilson Bever from Berachah Church and Pastor Jerry Paradise of Calvary Chapel Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Cheltenham Fire Company, P.O. Box 85, Cheltenham, PA 19012 or Philadelphia Protestant Home Benevolent Fund, 6401 Martins Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
