Anna Bressi of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania died Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Artis Senior Living. She was 100 years old. Anna was born January 6, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Frank Bressi and the late Bice Bressi (nee - Greco). She is the sister of Frank Bressi Jr., Dora Crawford and her husband Edward, the late Vincent Bressi and his wife the late Marion, the late Peter Bressi and his wife the late Gloria, the late Nicholas Bressi and his wife the late Philomena and his wife Mary, and the late Rose Shannon and her late husband Lester. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews.

Anna was born, raised, and educated in South Philadelphia. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School and continued to pursue education, receiving her Masters Degree from Middlebury College in language and international studies. 

Anna began her teaching career at Bristol Borough High School teaching foreign languages and English. She later moved to Elkins Park Middle School where she continued to teach language and was the Heaf of the Foreign Language Department, with many of her students going on to pursue careers in linguistics.

Anna loved classical music, and traveling to exotic destinations both internationally and throughout the United States. Anna was a season ticket holder to the Opera Philadelphia and was referred to as the “Queen of the Opera” by her father, her favorite was “Madama Butterfly”. Anna spent much of her time at the International House in Philadelphia learning different cultures and enjoying dinners with friends. She was known for her delicious salads with her special dressing. During Anna’s travels, on a trip to Vienna, she joined a competition for walz and won. Anna always had a camera around her neck and loved to take photos documenting her travels and her family.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.  Her graveside service followed at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 West County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Opera Philadelphia, 1420 Locust Street, Suite 210, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
