Robert Lee Hertzog of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Horsham Center for Jewish Life. He was 72 years old. Bob was born September 27, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late William Hertzog and the late Elizabeth Hertzog (nee - Pope). He is the beloved husband of Judy Hertzog; father of Andrew Hertzog and his wife Myriam, Jeffrey Hertzog and his fiancée Kayela Charles, and Sara Hertzog; grandfather of Aidan, Lewis, Michael, Landon, and Rylan Hertzog; brother of Joanne Schollaert and Paul Hertzog and his wife Mary Jo, and the late William Hertzog. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

Bob was born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1967 and was a proud member of the Ambassadors of Song choir. There he met the love of his life, Judy. He attended Community College of Philadelphia, Millersville State College, and finished his degree in secondary education at Temple University. Bob had enough jobs to fill a book, but was primarily a Lease Negotiator for Cigna and Merrill Lynch for the majority of his career.

Bob's faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was a central part of his life. He was actively involved at Fox Chase United Methodist Church and Calvary Presbyterian Church in Willow Grove. At Calvary, he served for many years on the Elder board, and as church secretary in his retirement years. His love of the Bible brought him to lead many Bible studies and teach Sunday School. Bob had a heart for service. Through church, he participated in missions trips to Puerto Rico and Appalachia. He served on the board of Urban Family Council and Whosoever Gospel Mission. And he was always willing to help those in need.

Singing was a large part of Bob's life, starting at Frankford. He later joined the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale with sons Andy and Jeff, and joined other community choirs. He loved to travel, visiting 48 states and 45 countries. He loved watching movies and sports, and especially coaching baseball/softball, soccer, and basketball. He traveled near and far to cheer on his daughter, sons and grandsons in all their activities.

Lastly, Bob was a loving son and brother, a doting husband of 50 years to Judy, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a caring friend. His gregarious character and positive attitude blessed all those who came in contact with him.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 9:30 A.M. and memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 North Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. A reception followed in the church fellowship hall. Use of face masks is optional at Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Angel Gomez, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 405 North Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090 or Whosoever Gospel Mission, 101 East Chelten Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19144.
