Arthur D. Zbinden of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at ACTS Communities. He was 94 years old. Arthur was born May 29, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Hans Otto Zbinden and the late Elfriede Zbinden (nee - Schwartze). He was the husband of the late Angelika I. Zbinden (nee von Gadow); father of Arthur M. Zbinden and his wife Sasha, and Christiane Banks and her husband David; grandfather of Olivia Keebler (nee Zbinden), and her husband Alex, Zachary Banks, and Liam Zbinden; great grandfather of Daisy Keebler. Brother of Christian Zbinden.
Predeceased by his older brother Hans O. Zbinden and his younger brother Markus Zbinden.
Arthur Zbinden was born and raised in Philadelphia. He attended Northeast High School and moved onto Temple University after graduating with a full scholarship. During his time at University he earned a Master’s in Education.
After graduating from Temple, Arthur was drafted into the United States Army, serving his country for two years before being honorably discharged.
As the son of a pastor, music always played a prominent role in Arthur’s life. Arthur began playing the organ in his father’s church, and during his service in the Army, he played piano for the Sunday Services.
Arthur spent his life as an elementary school teacher. He began teaching in Philadelphia and later moved on to teaching in Bucks County’s Centennial School District for the remainder of his career. He spent his summers with his family at their beach home in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
Throughout his life he remained an organist and choir director. Upon moving into his retirement community, Arthur continued to play the piano for services and events.
Arthur loved his family very much and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2086 Parkview Avenue, Abington, PA 19001.
Religious services were conducted by The Rev. Dr. Maurice Lee from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
