Edward Joseph Maier Sr. of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania died Thursday, June 27, 2024 at his home. He was 87 years old. Edward was born March 20, 1937 in Ötigheim, Germany, son of the late Artur Maier and the late Elise Maier (nee - Hammer). He is the beloved husband of 61 years of Herlinda Ruiz Maier; father of Edward Maier Jr., Francis Maier and his wife Amy Wilson, Anthony Maier, and Erica Berg; grandfather of Beth Maier, Alli Maier, Sophia Maier, Sean Berg, Amanda Berg, and Brian Berg. He was predeceased by his siblings Norbert Maier, Marianna Kambeitz, and Angellica Bach. He is also survived by his in laws Guadalupe and Juan Cervera and many nieces and nephews.

Edward was born, raised, and educated in Ötigheim, Germany where he enjoyed Gymnastics. He emigrated to United States in 1958. Edward enjoyed traveling, around Europe and the Americas. It was on one of his trips that he met his future wife. It was in 1961 while he was on vacation in Mexico while she was working in her family restaurant. he whistled to get her attention and started their 61+ year history together. He was a longtime member of Hermann - Humboldt Lodge No. 125 F. & A.M. Edward was a tool and die maker and owned Tasco Tool and Die. Later he would go on to work for Budd Company where he was a manager, building rail cars for Amtrak. While retired, he enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, building and collecting bird houses, gardening, and working on his koi pond.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 9:15 to 10:15 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. Albert the Great Church, 212 Welsh Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. His graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Robert B. McDermott from St. Albert the Great Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, 4 Neshaminy Interplex Drive Suite 205, Trevose, PA 19053.
