The following obituary was composed by Michael’s family:
Michael P. Maddock was called home unexpectedly to Our Lord on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024. He was 78 years old. Michael was born on October 27, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Paul Michael Maddock and the late Mary Agnes Maddock (nee-Simon).
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Maddock, his son Stephen Philip, granddaughter Kayla Marie, and nephews Matthew Istvan and RJ Netzel. He is the loving father of Paul Maddock, Thomas Maddock and wife Jerusha, Jennifer Maddock and husband Al Keenan, Mark Maddock and wife Jackie, Megan Maddock, and Michael D. Maddock and wife Mallorie.
He is the most beloved Poppy of 18 grandchildren. Luka and Arthur Maddock-Brand; Emma, Katie, Maggie, and Sophie Maddock; Jacob Maddock; Jayden, Destiny, Bryce, Aubrey, and Rylee Ingraham, Remi Wright; Jayden Marshall, Elijah, Gavin, and Stephen Maddock. He is the beloved brother of Carol Deal and beloved brother-in-law of Barbara and George Istvan. He is the uncle of 13 nieces and nephews.
He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1963. He graduated from LaSalle College with a bachelor's degree in 1967. He worked for the US government for almost 40 years as an auditor.
He was an Eagle Scout.
His hobbies included collecting stamps, coins, Hot Wheels, and baseball cards. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He loved Flag Day. He loved shopping for anything on clearance and for sweets. He coached many teams for his children. He fascinated his children with magic tricks during birthday parties. He enjoyed playing Santa and being mistaken for Santa. He enjoyed being a scout and encouraging his children to be scouts. He enjoyed Sudoku and Cryptograms. He was the king of Dad jokes. His biggest hobby was spending time with his family. He enjoyed going to school functions, the kids sporting events, and camp outings. He always put others first and helped anyone/everyone in need. He loved going to breakfast on Sunday mornings after church.
He loved seeing and being with his children and grandchildren. Besides Betsy they were the loves of his life. Poppy, you will be greatly missed!
Relatives and friends were invited to Michael’s viewing on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Relatives and friends were also invited to his viewing on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:20 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Bosco Church, 235 East County Line Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. His graveside service followed at St. John Neumann Cemetery, 3797 County Line Road, Chalfont, PA 18914.
