The following story was composed by Sharon’s family:
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sharon Ruth Wright (née Russell), a beloved mother, grandmother, and lifelong advocate for children. Sharon left us peacefully surrounded by the family she loved so deeply on September 13, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of love and unwavering dedication to those who needed it most.
Sharon’s life was a testament to the power of compassion and selflessness. For 13 years, she opened her heart and home to 42 children through foster care, becoming a beacon of hope for many in their times of need. Her nurturing spirit and steadfast support provided countless children with the love and stability they so desperately required. Among those she cared for, she adopted four, embracing them as her own and enriching her family with their presence.
As a mother and grandmother, Sharon's influence extended beyond her role as a foster parent. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She found immense joy in their accomplishments, large and small, and her home was always a place of warmth and celebration. Her wisdom, kindness, and gentle guidance shaped the lives of her family, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Sharon’s commitment to children was not just a facet of her life—it was her life’s work. She believed in the potential of every child and was a steadfast advocate for their needs and dreams. Her legacy is one of boundless love and devotion, a shining example of how a single individual’s compassion can ripple through the lives of many.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Wright, and her four beloved children, who were adopted into her family: Susan Gibson, Devin Peterson (Jeff), James Wright (Kristin), and Amy Johnson (Demetrius). Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she is lovingly remembered by her twelve grandchildren: Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Anna, Johnathan, Monica, Demetria, Serena, Demetrius, Payton, Haley, Charlie, and Kylie. She is also survived by a wide circle of extended family and friends, all of whom were profoundly touched by her kindness and compassion.
Relatives and friends were invited to her celebration of life at a visitation on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. and Memorial Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. John Bosco Church, 235 East County Line Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. Interment was private.
Religious services were conducted by Fr. Gary J. Kramer, pastor of St. John Bosco Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sharon's name to Super Kids of MontCo, PO Box 1472, Blue Bell, PA 19422 to honor her lifelong commitment to children in need.
