The following was written by Robert’s family.

Robert Riepen, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on March 26, 2025. He was 78 years old. He was born March 26, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA to Frank and Caroline Riepen (nee Moore). He is survived by his loving wife Iva Riepen (nee McConnell), his daughters Melissa Landue (Joseph) and Iva Marie Shields (Robert), Grandchildren Jack Gill, Ashley Barcusky (Brandon), Ryan Gill, Reghan Gill, and Marcus Macarone. He is also survived by his twin sister Carol Ann Hahn (nee Riepen), sister Diane Riepen, and many nieces and nephews.

He attended Cheltenham High School, in Montgomery County, graduating in 1965.

Robert proudly served his country as a Crew Chief on a Huey helicopter in the United States Army Air Force through two tours during the Vietnam War. After Vietnam, he served in Washington DC during the formation of the DC National Guard. He was honorably discharged after 6 years of service, and was decorated with the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and was an Expert Marksman.

Upon returning from Active Duty, Robert joined the staff of Hall-Woolford Wood Tank Company where he spent his entire career, dedicating 46 years to his craft. He was acknowledged as an expert in the design, manufacturing, and installation of wood tanks.

He loved spending time at his family’s vacation home in Ocean City, NJ. He was an avid Lionel Train collector and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Robert will be forever missed by his many friends and family.

Per his wishes, there will not be a funeral service, and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
