Betty Lou Schoeller of Rydal, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026 at the age of 92. Born on May 15, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Betty Lou was the daughter of the late Frank Shoemaker and the late Betty Shoemaker (née Tucker). She grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Olney High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Temple University, where she majored in elementary education.
Betty Lou met the love of her life, Craig A. Schoeller, at First Christian Church on the Boulevard. They were married in 1954 at the same church, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 64 years until Craig’s passing.
Together, they raised their family in Cheltenham. Betty Lou was a longtime member of Abington Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She shared her love of learning as a substitute teacher in the Cheltenham School District. Betty Lou was also an active social member of Manufacturer’s Country Club, enjoying many gatherings and friendships there. Later in life, she continued her passion for music at Rydal Park, where she sang in both the choir and bell choir. She moved to Rydal Park in November 2023.
She is survived by her loving children, Karen Tyler and her husband Jesse, and Mark Schoeller and his wife Johanna; and her cherished grandchildren, Maggie Schoeller, Brian Herrmann, and Brent Schoeller, in whom she took the greatest joy.
At the family request, services will be private.
Betty Lou will be remembered for her kindness, her love of music, her devotion to family, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life.
