Albert DerMovsesian, 83, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, died peacefully at home on July 30, 2025. Al was born May 18, 1942 in Rome, New York, son of the late Hapet DerMovsesian and the late Takoohi DerMovsesian (nee Tashjian). He is the beloved husband of Constance A. (nee Blow) DerMovsesian, father of Albert J. and his wife Mary Anne and Andrew J. and his wife Christine M., and grandfather of Albert J. Jr., Jeremy, Benjamin, and Sarah, brother-in-law of Renee Pollock (nee Blow) and her husband Steven.

He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1959 and earned a full academic scholarship to Temple University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree of Political Science in 1963. He went on to Temple University School of Law and graduated in 1966 with a Juris Doctor degree.

He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1966 until his Honorable Discharge in 1972 having reached rank of Specialist 5.

That same year he began his law career at Strong, Barnett and Grassberger in Philadelphia. In 1970, he joined a small law practice in Willow Grove with Donald Semisch, Esq. The growing family with two sons and the oldest headed to Kindergarten, moved to Upper Moreland in 1975. Three years later, with the youngest off to school, he began his own law practice in Willow Grove, with Connie as his secretary/office administrator. With a focus on Family Law, including Wills and Estates, Small Business and Real Estate matters, including Zoning, he helped families throughout the area build their businesses and take care of their families. He and Connie worked side by side until they retired in 2022.

Outside of his practice, Al was deeply involved in serving his community in many areas. Serving as an Elder at both Westminster Mayfair Presbyterian and Warminster Presbyterian churches, Al was deeply involved with the Presbytery of Philadelphia serving on numerous committees. In 1981, he was elected to serve as Moderator of the Philadelphia Presbytery. Years later he was hired to serve as Interim Stated Clerk and then as Acting General Presbyter.

Al also was known for his lifelong service in Upper Moreland, starting with coaching for UM Soccer Club, including their early travel teams. He volunteered as both an umpire and a manager and later served as President of the UM Little League. For more than a decade he was a Player/Manager for his Westminster Mayfair church softball team, including winning six consecutive championships in the NE Philadelphia Church Fastpitch Softball League from 1982-1987.

In 1987, he was elected to the Upper Moreland School Board where he served for 12 years, including as Board President. He represented the UM Board at the county and state level, as well as attending the National School Board Association convention. He also served on the Upper Moreland Township Parks Advisory Commission and was appointed to the Upper Moreland Zoning Board.

Al was an avid and lifelong Philadelphia sports fan. One of his most prized possessions is a piece of the goalpost from the Eagles’ 1960 Championship game that he attended by working as a vendor at age 18. He was a Flyers season ticket holder from 1972-2017. In addition to having a partial season ticket plan to the Phillies for many seasons, he and Connie traveled to Florida and watched Spring Training for many years. He almost always could be seen wearing a hat, shirt or jacket of his beloved Temple Owls, Eagles, Flyers or Phillies, especially when traveling around the country and even the world.

Above all, Al dedicated his life to taking care of his family and to serving his church and his community. He had an abiding love and devout faith in God, and His son Jesus Christ. As a first-generation American, born to Armenian refugees who had fled persecution and genocide, he had a deep appreciation for this country and the rule of law. These were both reflected in all that he said and did, both professionally and personally.

His unwavering love and commitment to his family, friends and greater community, was apparent to anyone who met him. He set an example to be emulated by all and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Relatives and friends were also invited to his visitation on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. and memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Warminster, 500 Madison Avenue, Warminster, PA 18974. Interment will be private.

Religious services were conducted by The Rev. Mindy Campbell pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Warminster, 500 Madison Avenue, Warminster, PA 18974.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Parkinson Council, 520 Carpenter Lane-COMM, Philadelphia, PA 19119 or Armenian Heritage Foundation of Philadelphia - Armenian Heritage Walk at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1 Belmont Avenue, Suite 314, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
