The following obituary was composed by Michelle’s family:

Michelle Nur-Chowdhury of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away, after a valiant battle with cancer, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at her home. Michelle faced pancreatic cancer with extraordinary courage and grace, continuing to bring light, laughter, and comfort to everyone around her, even as she endured her own battle. She was 47 years old. Michelle was born March 30, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Edward Bartlett and the late Veronica Bartlett (nee - Bell). She is the beloved wife of 23 years of Onik; a devoted mom of Thomas and Jake who she loved deeply; the loving pup-mom of Ella and Meadow; caring sister of Margie Bartlett, Cindy Zieminski (the late Ted), and Eddie Bartlett (Michele). Michelle is also survived by her girlies (nieces), Nicole, Brandi, Amber, and Ashley, who she adored.

Michelle was raised in the Fairmount section of the city, and was a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. She continued her education at Philadelphia Community College with a degree in Business Management. Michelle met Onik while working together at Restaurant System International. She pursued him (no matter what Onik says). The two fell in love and were married in Philadelphia in 2002. They raised their boys in Northeast Philadelphia.

Michelle was a strong and confident individual who accomplished a lot throughout her life. She worked for Bento Sushi as Vice President of Operations for the United States for the last seven years. She loved to travel, both for work and vacations and go on road trips with Onik and the boys. Together she and Onik built a home filled with warmth, love, and laughter. She shared his passion for cooking and loved bringing people together around the table- especially for game nights, holidays, and other family celebrations. Michelle was very proud of her sons and loved to tell everyone all about them and their accomplishments. She was a powerful leader, inspiring to others, and supportive to all.

Michelle was full of joy, the light that lit up every room she entered. She loved life deeply: her boys, her work, her travels, her family and friends. Most of all, she had a way of making sure everyone knew they were loved. Michelle touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and compassion. To continue her legacy, please perform acts of kindness for others in her honor.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. and memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Michelle’s wishes are for everyone to come in colorful attire.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Michelle’s memory may do so by supporting her boys, Thomas and Jake, in ways meaningful to them.

Religious services will be conducted by Deacon Dennis Friel from Resurrection of Our Lord Church, 2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152.
