Marilyn Louclare Sylvester of Philadelphia, PA died on October 30, 2025. She was 93 years old, she was born on July 30 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to Frederick Carl and Martha Persner. She is the beloved wife of 48 years of the late John Wesley Sylvester; mother of Cheryl Ann Ash (Paul Ash) and Nancy Jean Brinkheide (Philip); grandmother of Paul Wesley Ash, Stephanie Ash (Chin So), Allison Herman (Jordan), Samantha Ash, Daniel Brinkheide (Chelsea) and Amy Hopkins (Ryan); and the great grandmother of seven. She attended schools in the Philadelphia School District and graduated in 1950 from Frankford High School.

She was a long time resident of Cheltenham Village where she raised her family before moving to Huntingdon Valley. She enjoyed sewing and cooking as a homemaker. During her lifetime she attended Bethany United Church of Christ and was an active member. She maintained friendships with "Sorority" sisters from Wilson Middle School for over 75 years. She lived out her final years at the Philadelphia Protestant Home where she made many friends with staff and residents and received excellent care. One of her biggest joys was her family and vacations with grandchildren in Stone Harbor, NJ.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. and funeral service at 11:30 A.M. at The chapel at the Philadelphia Protestant Home. Her graveside service will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Jack Fletcher Price, former pastor of Bethany United Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Philadelphia Protestant Home Benevolent Fund/ Fund Development, 6401 Martins Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
