Patricia Marie McCloskey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was 90 years old.
Born June 27, 1935, in Philadelphia, Patricia was the daughter of the late John Cadieux and the late Freida Cadieux (née Gentil). She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph T. McCloskey. Together, they built a warm and loving family, and their devotion to one another remained an example to all who knew them.
Patricia was the cherished mother of Joseph McCloskey Jr. and his wife Donna, Patti McCloskey and the late John, John McCloskey and his wife Anna, Daniel McCloskey and his wife Maureen, and the late Susan McCloskey. She was a loving grandmother to Kerianne and her husband Walter; Joey and his wife Megan; Sean and his wife Abbie; John and his wife Kimberly; Kelly Ann; Justin; Makayla; Katelyn; Ian; Kenny; Ryan; Stephen and his wife Kristen; Danny Boy and his wife Samantha; Brian and his wife Megan; Richie and his wife Kristin; Jenny; and Danny. Patricia was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Joey, Jason, Emma, Sophia, Stephen, Sean Paul, Lilah, Charlotte, Walter, Cade, Ben, and Phoebe.
She is preceded in death by her brother John Cadieux and his wife Audrey, and is remembered as a sister-in-law to the late Peggy Donahue, the late Jimmy McCloskey and his late wife Sheila, the late John, and the late Eugene and his late wife Regina.
Patricia and Joe met in 1952 while both were employed at First National Bank. They married in 1955 following Joe’s return from the Army. Their early years together were spent in the Port Richmond and Lawncrest neighborhoods before settling in Fox Chase, where Patricia made her home for the past 55 years.
The couple shared a love of music and camaraderie through their involvement with the Liberty Bell Drum and Bugle Corps and the Reilly Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps. One of their fondest memories was traveling to Ireland with the Reilly Raiders in 2014. Patricia was also a devoted longtime member of St. Cecilia Parish in Fox Chase.
For more than 20 years, Patricia worked as a manager at Jeanes Hospital’s Opportunity Shop, retiring at the age of 67. Outside of work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures—coloring, cryptograms, knitting, and shopping—but above all, her greatest happiness came from time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 8:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her Funeral Mass followed at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Church, 535 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Interment took place afterward at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150.
Religious services were conducted by Fr. Christopher Walsh of St. Cecilia Church.
