The following was composed by Marty’s family:

Martin G. “Marty” Lewis Sr., of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, in Princeton, New Jersey. He was 76 years old. Born on May 12, 1949, in Philadelphia, Marty was the son of the late William Martin Lewis and Mary Josephine Lewis (née Lemerise). He grew up in Philadelphia. Marty attended Roman Catholic High School and went on to earn degrees from Pierce Junior College and La Salle College.

Marty proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Okinawa. He later became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for many years for the City of Philadelphia. He was also a member of the American Legion. Marty met the love of his life, Charlene Gormley, while vacationing in Wildwood as teenagers. They were married in 1972 and shared 53 years of marriage, raising their family in Philadelphia. Marty also known as “Pop Pop” loved his family and grandchildren very much. He loved animals especially his two cats, Tigger and Zoey and grand dogs, Snickers and Peaches. Marty enjoyed doing taxes even in his retirement but what he enjoyed most of all was connecting with his clients. He was a true Philly sports fan never missing an Eagles game and going to many Phillies games with his daughter. He was always doing cross word puzzles and enjoyed watching movies. Just before he passed, he was watching his favorite Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life.

Marty is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene; his children, Martin Lewis Jr. and Shannon Pereira; and his cherished grandchildren, Maxwell Lewis, Seraphina Pereira, and Gabriella Pereira. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Fischer, and her husband James, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marty was predeceased by his siblings Lillian, William, Charles, Catherine, James, Paul, Jeanette, and Michael.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M., at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marty’s memory to the Committee to Benefit the Children, St. Christopher’s Hospital, 2nd Floor Oncology, 160 East Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
