Christa H. Breyer, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026 at the Philadelphia Protestant Home. She was 92 years old. She was born in Berlin, Germany on May 1,1934 daughter of the late Ernst Oskar Walter Herbst and the late Erna Herbst (nee - Gerber).
She is the mother of Monica Knapp and her husband Christopher, and Herbert Breyer and his wife Debbie. She was pre-deceased by her son Henry Breyer (Kay Breyer - wife). She is the sister of Hans-Jurgen Herbst, and Klaus-Dieter Herbst (Helga - wife) and the late Gisela Neu. Oma is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Christa also had a very close relationship with her niece, Suzette Gore and her husband, Bob.
Christa emigrated to the United States in 1952 from Bavaria, Germany to Philadelphia, PA. She was a member of many German organizations and enjoyed singing in the choir, formerly known as the Heimat Echo. But mostly, Christa was known as the Jewelry Lady, working as a saleswoman for over 40 years. She truly enjoyed wearing and selecting pieces that were tailor-made for each and every customer hoping they would provide a lifetime of happiness.
She resided at the Philadelphia Protestant Home for the last 10 years and enjoyed having cocktails at the bar and telling stories to her many friends.
She will be greatly missed by all!
